Apple Hot Spring

Apples float in the baths. This day-use hot spring in Asahi Town, Yamagata Prefecture, known as an apple-growing area, is characterized by its year-round baths with apples from the town floating in them. The water is a sodium-chloride strongly saline hot spring. Its salty water warms the body from the core. In addition to the large communal bath, an open-air bath is available only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, where you can soak while looking out over the Asahi Mountain Range and Mount Gassan. The open-air bath is closed in winter. Admission is 300 yen for adults and 200 yen for children. There is no sauna, but the apple-filled bath and mountain views create a uniquely local experience.
