A new family-bath-only facility opened in 2022 in the Tamana Onsen area of Kumamoto. All 10 family baths have indoor and outdoor tubs, with 5 equipped with authentic Finnish-style loyly sauna or barrel sauna. Spring quality: Tamana Onsen's only pH 8.6 alkaline, weakly radioactive simple onsen, with source kakenagashi (no heating, dilution, or circulation). Known as a "bijin no yu" (beautiful-skin water). Each room has spacious changing and rest areas, toilet, bench, and sofa; sauna rooms have refrigerator and TV. Outside food and drinks allowed.
