Ohara no Sato is a minshuku (family-run guesthouse) in Ohara, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. The spring type is simple hot spring. It is located in a quiet, green mountain valley, close to Sanzen-in in Ohara. Its specialty is an Ohara-style miso hot pot made with homemade miso that has been made for over 100 years, prepared using only soybeans, rice koji and salt. Available only from autumn to spring are a simmered botan nabe made with wild boar meat from Tamba-Sasayama, and an inaka nabe made with Kyoto duck broth. Pick-up is available from the Ohara bus stop of Kyoto Bus, and can be used on request after check-in.
