Yakushi Yudono is a bathing facility in Nara City, located within the grounds of Ryosen-ji Temple. Its origins are said to lie with Ono no Tomihito, who grew medicinal herbs, enshrined Yakushi Nyorai (the Medicine Buddha) and offered herbal baths. The Yakushi bath is said to have been enjoyed by local villagers for about 1,300 years. It was rebuilt in Showa 57 (1982), and still uses natural ingredients such as Japanese angelica root (toki) and cnidium (senkyu). It is open from 10:30 to 19:00 and closed every Wednesday.
