駅前高等温泉は大正13年建築の英国調ハーフチェンバー様式が特徴の共同浴場です。あつ湯とぬる湯の2種類の浴槽があり、いずれも源泉かけ流しです。ぬる湯の浴槽は市営・町営温泉で初めての檜風呂です。2階には予約制の個室休憩室や広間があり、個室7室での宿泊もできます。建物前には無料の手湯があり、タオルや石けんは自動販売機で購入できます。JR別府駅から徒歩2分、東九州自動車道別府ICから約6.5kmの場所にあり、無料の駐車場が8台分あります。
